John Ware and his brother Arber Ware formed Belting Ware (Pty) Ltd in 1981. The company was initially based in Cape Town. John Ware at this stage had ± 7 years’ experience in the marketing of Belting products in South Africa. In 1989 Belting Ware, under the management of John Ware, expanded its marketing interests by opening a distribution and service centre in Johannesburg. In 1992 Belting Ware merged with the then Maritime Marketing Belting Division to form a new company called Mariware Belting cc. At this stage the newly formed company was possibly amongst the top three Belting companies in South Africa with branches in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town. In 1995 Mariware was sold to the Hudaco organization. In 1996 John Ware relocated back to Cape Town and formed the current trading company Belting Edge (Pty) Ltd.
Belting Edge has really gone from strength to strength. John Ware retired at the end of 2010 and his son Huston Ware has since taken over. With Huston’s engineering and marketing background Belting Edge has now become the only Belt Supplier and Fabricator in Africa to introduce a full CNC machining centre for the fabrication of its belting related products. Belting Edge has also started developing full conveyor systems for the food industry, from concept to installation. We have a full CNC plastic engineering workshop backed up by an in-house draughting office. This has had a dramatic influence on the original equipment manufactures that we service as we can draught and supply some interesting belts that where generally only possible from European suppliers.
Belting Edge has also expanded its offering internationally. We have distributors throughout Africa and at this point 70% of our turnover is re-seller or OEM based business as we only focus on very specific end-user accounts. If you are interested in offering our products to your customers, please let us know as I’m sure we can offer you solutions as opposed to just replacement products
Huston Ware has three son’s and like his father before him he would like to leave a legacy behind. We look forward to seeing if the boys will embrace the company like John and Huston did and have been doing for many years but only time will tell. However, if they do not decide to work from the bottom and earn their strips then we will make sure that the company continues to innovate and devote 5% of their annual turnover to the improvement of Belting Edges offering, taking Belting Edge to a Global Market.
